Rob Brown

Rob was born as a child of the 80's in New Orleans, Louisiana. While he grew up on the beaches of Destin, he always refers to the Big Easy as home.

After moving to Shalimar as a child, Rob attended Choctawhatchee High School in Ft. Walton Beach. During his time as a Big Green Indian, Rob played football and basketball, including playing a role on the 2002 State Runner-Up team. Rob was also a member of the school newspaper, Smoke Signals, where he won multiple state and national level awards as both a reporter and and editorial writer.

After graduating in 2003, (and despite being a life-long LSU fan .. turns out, in-state tuition is more radio and newspaper friendly!) Rob attended the Florida State University. During his time there, he joined the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity. He also began writing for the FSView, the official newspaper of FSU, where he covered basketball, baseball, soccer, softball, volleyball and football.

After a family emergency demanded he return hone, Rob graduated from the University of West Florida with a degree in Communications, with a broadcast specialization.

During his time at UWF, Rob began two different ventures, in both writing and radio. Rob began covering local high school sports for the Northwest Florida Daily News. He was tasked with covering county playoff games, and traveling to other parts of the state.

At the same time, he began guest hosting multiple shows on the Florida Panhandle's only sports talk radio station, which, at the time, was WTKE 98.1 FM.

After less than a year of guest hosting, Rob was then asked to join the official line-up of the prime-time morning show, where he spent a year hosting.

A short time later, Rob was asked to take over the station's flagship show in the prime-time drive home slot. He held that position for nearly two years, until another opportunity presented itself.

In mid 2011, Hooters bought the rights to Rob's show, the largest single-show exclusive rights deal in station history. Hooters Sports Talk Radio was born, and Rob has hosted it ever since.

The Hooters Sports Radio Show has since been the Gulf Coast's only all-inclusive program, which talks about all sports from all parts of the country and the world. Football, baseball, basketball, even soccer .. Rob covers it with the most diverse topics, guests and opinions of any show in the southeast.

Since he began working at the station, Rob has also worked for Square Ring Productions, a boxing stable and production company owned by the pound-for-pound greatest fighter of all all time, Roy Jones Jr. During that time he has traveled the country, from Las Vegas to Miami, working as an post-fight, in-ring interviewer, and play-by-play man. Rob has had the opportunity to interview MMA legends including Jeff Monson and Roy Nelson, as well as Hall of Fame boxers including Oliver McCall, Oscar de la Hoya, and of course, Roy Jones Jr., who he has also worked with as a play-by-play team.

Rob has also had the opportunity to represent nearby Pensacola Naval Air Station, attending annually the Army/Navy college football game. Traveling to Philadelphia and Washington DC, Rob has had the opportunity to represent the men and women of PNS, and meet the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and the President of the United States on their behalf.

Rob looks forward to many more years of broadcasting in his dream career, and will always be grateful to the listeners, callers, critics and fans for shaping him into the broadcaster he's become.

Laissez les bon temps rouler, friends!
